| To Lee... First of all, arigato, thank you, TODAY (Hebrew...) for two wonderful months with a lot of experiencing and feeling body and space. I have been working with body, energy, and space for 11 years (and before that I was an architect... also working with space, but differently). These two months helped me deepen my knowledge of the body and movement. I felt the process was very gradual and gave us a lot of space to go at our own pace. I started to feel my body in a more physical way than before, as if it was becoming more solid and more open or "airy" at the same time. Before, my work and path were very "spiritual" and focused a lot on energy work (in the last four years...) and the Butoh connected me more and more to the physical, and the body, which was my main goal in coming here. It was sometimes difficult for me - first physically (my body was not used to moving this way so much) and then with this new concept of "performing," which was totally new to me... I am used to healing, teaching, or doing art that is not to do with being on stage... I felt quiet enough most of the time to just "be there" on "stage" and see what happens... Also I felt a lot of space and support from you and from the group, like there is no need to prove something. At first, I was searching for movement that is coming totally from itself, from the cosmos, or universe, energy, or god... This has been one of my main interests in the last few years - how to let go, surrender to life, and let life happen by itself. This usually brought me to new, deep, wonderful places (like the Subbody School...) I was also working and teaching a lot about "intention" and how to use our intention together with the "world"'s intention for us... Towards the end of the course, I discovered there are probably many ways for this, for letting go, and different kinds of "spontaneous" movements in life and with the body. In some of them, we are more active, and in some, less... Moving with the body in these many ways was first of all FUN and I think very important for me. I hope it will help me become more active in life, while keeping my peace and inner silence. Our group was very nice, and I really enjoyed you letting each one teach us. This was something I was thinking of doing as a teacher, and I now found it to be a very good way for teaching and for learning. As a teacher, I also learned a lot from the structure of the program, combining shiatsu and couple work, some of your "language," like "conditioning," "qualia," "rhizome," "edge," "weakened body," and more, that are very close to the way I teach, to the spirit of what I teach (I use a lot the Hebrew word for "quality"). But this will surely give me new perspective and understanding. I really liked and learned from working in nature, from our trips, and from working with sub/co-bodies, maybe this was my favourite... As a healer and practitioner, I resonate a lot and listen to others' bodies, but here it was fun and playful. I went through an interesting process with the meaning of "performing" and having a "story" in performance, or making it interesting, like with clothing, costumes, an idea of some creature or memory... I usually try to be present in the moment, where no "memory" from the past or plan for the future exists. Only what is now... and going deep into our true deep nature, which is stillness, space... but through learning to have some basic structure in the performance - like space or posture or a certain subbody... I started to learn a new language (although it is really just the beginning.) For ending, I will translate some sentences I wrote one day in self research regarding my deepest quesiton when being here: who/what is making the movement? - the movement is moving the energy, the energy is moving the movement - pain or discomfort create the movement - continuity creates the movement - breath is creating the movement, the movement is creating the breath - "it" is creating the mvoement, the movement is creating "it" - gravity creates the movement, gravity stops the movement - our patterns create the movement, the movement can break the patterns - attention and space make the movement - the first movement creates the second movement, the beginning creates the continuing... - decision makes the movement, the movement creates the decision - the inside mvoes the outside, the outside moves the inside - the wall/floor (matter) stops the movement, creates the next movement, changes the movement Thank you again, Guy |
